為回應2016世界視覺日，中華民國眼科醫學會對各年齡用眼習慣進行大體檢。相較於去年（2015）民眾每日使用3C時數8.7小時，今年（2016）為7.8小時，總體行為微幅改善，但距理想值仍有很大改善空間。
中華民國眼科醫學會蔡景耀秘書長表示，使用3C無過度休息、自覺眼睛不適卻未就醫、光線不充足、躺著或趴著看3C、在晃動行進間使用3C，五大錯誤行為傷眼於無形。其中，不休息、不就醫幾乎全體淪陷。學生族長時間低頭小螢幕玩遊戲恐導致屈光不正加重，青壯年長時間盯小螢幕恐提早出現老化眼疾，銀髮族在光線不足下重度使用社群軟體將加深白內障風險。各族群3C使用習慣不同，應給與相對應護眼建議。
中華民國眼科醫學會理事既臺灣眼科視覺光學及屈調驗光醫學會理事長林思源建議，眼球尚在發育中的兒童應盡可能減少3C使用機會，2歲以下幼兒不可接觸3C。青少年學生容易發生屈光不正（近視）問題，應注意使用3C總時數，避免長時間過度用眼。上班族因整日使用電腦需減少其他3C使用時間，建議年齡愈大使用時間愈縮短。老年人應注意3C使用環境，尤其是避免在暗處和大太陽下使用3C。
除分齡護眼指南外，護眼通則「二要三不要」更須遵守：不要在晃動行進中使用，不要于光源不充足或大太陽下使用，每使用30分鐘要休息10分鐘，要多到戶外遠眺，定期檢查。
